weekly agenda

BEACH!!!!!
I'm going to the beach tomorrow! FINALLY!!!! My last full free day of summer, and I'm finally getting the one indulgence I've craved all summer! HOORAY. My weekly awards should definitely be based off of that!

Oh..yeah..then there's school. Only two days left. On Tuesday is the orientation for freshman. And Wed. is the first day of school. Fun...

Oh, and I still have to review the Pecan Caramel Truffle. I don't have any pictures, but it was really good. I didn't like it only because I bit into it and the caramel just melted out, and it got really messy. But it could just be that I'm a messy eater, which is true. Have napkins when you eat this one! I was so worried about the messiness I didn't really get to taste it. So I'll let you know how I rate it as soon as I get the chance to try another!!

GODIVA MONTH!

Godiva Chocolatier. The best chocolate. Ever. I love Hershey's, M&Ms, Dove and what not, but Godiva is like a Chocolate Boutique: It's special! I love Godivaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went shopping today at a mall which is 45 minutes from our home to shop AND to get Godiva Chocolate! The Godiva at the mall which I usually shop at closedD'= so that meant no free chocolate of the month, and no more chocolate from Godiva! I was really depressed. But then my mom found out about this, and every other month (Feb. Apr. June, Aug., Oct., and Dec.) I will get to go to Godiva, get a free chocolate of the month (and what ever other reward I earn with my Rewards Card which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING IF YOU LIKE CHOCOLATE, I MEAN HELLO! FREE CHOCOLATE!!!!!!) and I can spend up to $20 on any other chocolate! I'm STOKED=D

So this means every other months I will be excitedly reporting and rating chocolate! c(=
Well, this time around I tried the Chocolate Lava Cake Truffle as my free chocolate of the month, which (as the picture shows) completely lava-like! It was just bursting with chocolatey flavor. There was the truffle filling and like a chocolate liquidy type ingredient which contributed to the lava like flavor. The chocolate though tasted thick, and it was weird to have that contrast in a truffle, and it was sort of overpowering, so I couldn't taste the other part of the truffle. It was delicous overall, though! 85% out 100%!!
Before I ate it! I'm not really sure what's on top of it, but as far as I'm concerned it didn't effect the taste much.
In the inside! The chocolate in the middle kind of gushed out, like a gusher! But it was yummy!
My sister enjoyed a Mandarin Orange Spring Fruits chocolate. She said it was tasty, but I didn't actually get to try it myself.
(Mandarin Orange Spring Fruit)
I also purchased some Harvest Spice Truffles. THESE ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE TRUFFLES GODIVA HAS TO OFFER: AND THAT'S SAYING A LOT! I absolutely love this flavor. It has a milk chocolate ganache mized with cinnamon, cloves and nutmegg!!! It's a perfect balance between spices thats are still sweet and a harvesty flavor that make Autumn feel more cozy. I think it tastes just like you'd expect it to. The name HARVEST comes from its fresh harvested flavor. legit. It tastes just like Autumn, pumpkins, Thanksgiving Dinner and the piles of leaves all in one truffle. It's DELICIOUS. 100% out of 100%!!!!!

I also am trying the Ice Cream Parlor Truffles, which are a special limited edition for the summer and for the National Ice Cream Day! I am going to try the Orange&Creme, the Mint Chocolate Chip, and the Pecan Caramel Truffles! I cannot wait! I have already tasted the Orange and Creme. And I'm trying the Mint Chocolate Chip as I type!!! I loveeee limited edition things, for some reason! Like things that are special for occasions?!?! Yeah! So i love the whole idea of Ice Cream "Pint" containers and the creamy ganache centers! Not to mention they also have chocolate pops AND truffle bar collectiosn which i SO wish i couldve tried!!!!!! It's sooooo excitingg!!!! So, I'm only going to be trying three flavors, but I love mint chocolate chip, I hear tha tthe Pecan truffle is AH-MAZING, and the other flavors didn't interest me like Oranges&Creme. So, I can't wait to review these!!!! There are six truffle flavors in total, however.
Hazelnut Gelato and Coffe Gelato: I don't like coffe, so these didn't interest me much.
Neapolitan: I don't like strawberry and vanilla ice cream, either, so I didn't think I'd be too crazy for this flavor...
Orange & Creme- It is so named Orange and Creme for a reason! A perfect balance between an ice creamy taste and orange bursts of flavor. There is a lot of the creamy feel, almost too creamy for a truffle, but definitely sticking to the Ice Cream theme! I dont really like oranges...at all, but when there's chocolate, you can't go wrong! A white chocolate swirl decorates the dainty and very light, fluffy truffle. The flavor, I wasn't crazy about. I mean, there's still that overpowering orange flavor that just matches the chocolate. It was pretty good, just not my favorite---80%!!!

Mint Chocolate Chip- When I was younger I used to go to Friendly's (an ice cream place) that had Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. I LOVED mint chocolate chip. I've kind of "grown out" of those taste buds now, and I usually go for something a little more chocolatey! But this truffle reminded me why I loved it that flavor. This truffle tastes EXACTLY like the ice cream, only if you eat it really fast, it doesn't give you a brain freeze! The inside is very smooth-- a ganache center--which contributes to the ice cream feel. The shell is chocolate and mint, and there are small bursts of chocolate chips inside the truffle. It brought me back to the days where I'd get ice cream after shots. It might not please people who don't have my taste buds, but I liked the themed flavor. 100% (:
The inside of it! (I cut it in half..) You can see the little chocolate chips! YUM!

There are four in each pint container. They don't really all fit..but they're still deliciouss hehe;) I ate one truffle along with Tea Forte's English Breakfast. It was a simple mix.

THE 100TH POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY 100TH POST!!
IT'S THE 100TH POST OF THIS BLOG! THAT MEANS THAT I'VE UPDATED THIS PAGE 100 TIMES AT LEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To celebrate, I've got lots of blog-candy for you: in other words, a lot of stuff the daily reader of this blog will enjoy[: Sorry I haven't gotten to this yet, but I've been very busy in Maine. Besides, I wanted this to be the best post yet! So each topic is a different color, hopefully to help with organization! So ENJOY THE 100TH POST!

IT'S A NEW LABEL! It's called "Awards of the Week" Every week I'll be handing out awards to lines of a song that will be the Lyrics of the Week. You can nominate lyrics by commenting. Also, a Picture of the Week will also be awarded. This will either be from my own gallery or from some one else's, or maybe even yours! Just comment during each Award Ceremony to nominate a photo! And, last but not least, is a Word of the Week. This might be just a random word, or a new word found while reading. I will have reasons for choosing each and every one of these awards which will be described in the post. Also, commenting and nominating is encouraged! So please do so!
This week, the first annual "Weekly Awards" ceremony, I have an award for each category, as I always should.

This week's lyric of the week is from "Secrets" by OneRepublic.
"I'm gonna give all my secrets away"
I like this song. It's in the movie "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" which I'm currently OBSESSED with! And I think it represents me because I often give secrets away, although sometimes--most times--they might not be mine...

This week's picture of the week is:
I miss the beach. I want to live on the beach someday when I'm older. I miss the beach soo much. This photo is gorgeous. It reminds me of how much I want to be near the beach. This was taken by my friend Grace who is an amazing photographer!
This week's word of the week is:
JUXTAPOSITION- definition: (v.) the act of positioning close together (or side by side)
I was reading an interview of Jerry Spinelli talking about his book "Eggs" which is my book review today too! Anyways, i had no idea whatsoever what it meant, so i looked it up, and found the definition.

These awards will be posted weekly probably during the weekdays. The weeks will be Sunday-Saturday. So I will probably be posting awards from Monday-Thursday. I shouldn't post one on Saturday for one week then Sunday for the next week. So, enjoy! DONT FORGET TO NOMINATE SOME SUGGESTIONS[:

Maine: short and sweet visit! We're back already[:

We visited, nothing tooo special. Also, no beachD'= So no pictures of the beach. But our family might be going to Misquamicut in Rhode Island later this summer!! That should be just as exciting!! We shopped not only at Freeport but on the way home westopped at the Kittery Outlets, and both had great sales at some great stores(:

This was taken in the pool there..I'm the one struggling to smile under my sister's weight...thanks Kira..

Kira at L.L. Bean. It was the entrance to the Kid's shopping center, and this is her...posing...

This photo was just edited, before it looked worse. I just thought it was s good example of how useful the "Teeth Whitening" could be because it helped ALL of the smiles in this photo! Even mine...I'm the one all the way to the left with the green lei.

This was cool. I wish I'd had taken this before the colorsplash contest at the Picnik Help Forum because it looks really cool! I was jsut playing around with some effects and this was the amazing outcome[: I like how they're all different colors and stuff... It's cooll:i lovee itt

Kira i guess really liked this outfit, so she spent a good 5-10 minutes scoping out the outfit--it only should've taken like two minutes--and she needed a picture with it. No, she didn't want to buy it, just wanted a picture with it. Incredible.

Anyways, overall, Maine was a fun experience[: Next year, it'll probably happen again, and perhaps the Morrisons will come up and visit the cottage!! Hopefully next year I'll go to the Wells Beach like I did last year!!!!

Picnik has this feature called "Tint" which can not only be used to give photos a tint of color, but you can change a person's hair color, eye color, and give them full makeovers by giving them lipgloss or applying blush! Picnik has just become soo much more helpful, not that it wasn't absolutely my favorite photo editing site anyways!

I learned how to make a "Rainbow Eye" This is my friend's eye, and she has beautiful eyes, so I thought she'd be the perfect "guinea pig." Hahahahaa[: the first one didn't come out as well, but this one looks really cool. i've also learned how to make anyone's eyes different colors, even like a vampire red or a sea green!!! Just go to tint, and you'd have to make a stripe with each color, or you can make a target-type thing with the color going inwards. Just tint each color individually nd it should turn out awesome!

How to video:

Now, time for a movie review!! **CAUTION. CONTAINS SPOILERS!** I've recently watched the movie "When In Rome." It stars Kristen Bell as Beth, a young single woman whose sister is engaged after knowing a man for two weeks. Beth has to attend her sister's wedding in Rome as a Bride's Maid. She meets the Nick (Josh Duhamel), the best man for the wedding, and he seems like the perfect man. After seeing Nick kiss another woman during the reception, Beth walks over to the Fountain of Love and not only dips her feet into the fountain, but proceeds to taking four coins and a poker chip that were thrown in by men wanting love. Little did Beth know about the curse: if you take a coin from the Fountain of Love, the person who threw the coin in the fountain will fall in love with you. So Beth has five men under a spell and, literally, stalking her insisting they truly love her. Beth only has two options to reverse the curse: either return the coins to the Fountain of Love, or return them to whomever they were thrown in the fountain by. And that's all I'll reveal!

This movie was definitely a chick flick, but it was cute, charming, and something I'd recommend the heartbroken to see to give them faith that love can still be found! Probably an 7.75/10. Only removing points because it was a little cheesy, but the overall theme was a little cheesy tooooo...but it was definitely cuutee[: also, PG13? I think there should be a PG10 because there's hardly any sexual content, hardly any swears that I remember, and the only reason not have it be PG is because the topic of love, and some of the content is a little more inappropriate but not that bad. So I'd rate the movie PG10.

Also, I'm counting down the days until the movie "Eat Pray Love" It looks like something I personally would love. In case you didn't know, I want to travel the world some day. I want to marvel at foreign things, explore new cultures and what not. And Eat Pray Love looks charming, romantic, and very funny. I will definitely be doing a movie review for that!

NEW POLL! It's a short simple poll just to see the ratio of females to males visiting my blog[: So are you a guy? A girl? Or were you born both or neither!? Or perhasp you're a moose, who captured some hiker's computer and are visiting MY SITE with your limited internet access, in which case i'd be honored[: So, answer!! This poll will be active until next Tuesday

Cottage this weekend!! Hopefully going to be having a sleepover with some of my dance friends!!!!!!!! Who knows?!? Definitely have pictures up! And I will be updating on that subject tooo[:

"Eggs" by Jerry Spinelli is my book review for the 100th post. David, (9 years old) whose mother recently passed away, moves with his grandmother and talks to her as little as possible. He meets 14 year old Primrose whose father disappeared when she was young. Both kids' parents who are still alive aren't always there like one would think they should be. So both kids rely on each other to learn from. Their only adult guidance is a man witha growing disorder who people call "Refrigerator John." Their friendship twists in between their two personalities. I personally find their friendship a result from their fragile egg-like similarities, and they could be very good siblings. Two people who aren't the best at making friends or reaching out to people reach out to each other and become friends unlike most.

I give it a 9/10 only because the overall concept was a little odd and pretty unrealistic in the grand scheme: what grandmother wouldn't notice her child leaving the house almost every day at night and disappearing until past midnight? It's a little unrealisitc but it's definitely original, creative, quirky and it will definitely have you wanting to keep reading! loved it!

"Oh. my. Gods." by Tera Lynn Childs is the book I'm currently reading. I will have a review once I'm done with it. It's about greek mythology and how a girl named Phoebe moves to a small greek island after her mother gets remarried to a guy she's known for a very short amount of time. Sounds like a disaster right? Well, she has to move halfway across the world for her senior year in high school to a private school in which her new stepfather is the headmaster. But that's not her biggest problem. the school is so exclusive that nearly all of the students are descendants of greek gods or goddesses!! not to mention they all have superpowers! that's all i've read about so far, but when i'm done i shall give a full summary and review.

Got a new polish from OPI! It's called "Shootout at the O.K. Coral" It's a pretty coral from OPI's colorcopia collection! Swatch? I haven't gotten around to any yet. But my camera is stupid and doesn't allow very good pictures, so it's hard to capture the amazing colors in a flattering way. The actual polish is a bit more pink than in the photo. It's sort of like the color of this font! I'll take photos later, so look forward to those!!

And for the random interest topic: T-E-A! I love tea. It's soothing, and warm and lovely to have on a cold snowy winter day or a hot sunny summer day! I used to have it with sugar, but i don't anymore. Anyways, my favorite brand of tea is "Celestial Seasonings" they have many flavors of herbal teas which are my favorite. I love trying them all. I also love looking for teas wherever I go, and trying new flavors! I will, as a random interest topic and not a new label, I'll be reviewing teas as well--not as critically as books or movies, just saying whether or not they're good or if they're interesting or original etc.

My first tea review will be of the Celestial Seasonings "Tropic od Strawberry" On a scale of 1-5 i'd give it a 5! It's delishhh! I LOVE strawberries, and this flavor was just perfect for any strawberry lover! But I also enjoy other brands of tea. Originally, I drank only Red Rose tea with tons of sugar and that was the only way I drank tea. But without sugar is just as good! I recommend tea to anyone who drinks coffee;)

Oh! I also just made a flickr account! I'm jsut hoping to make my photography a bit more public. But I don't think I can committ to it. I don't think I'll be visiting it often, or updating it often. So, visit, but it won't be much from this blog. Anyways, wish me luck!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/rainydayskeepmestrong/

SO THAT WAS THE 100TH POST! HOPE YOU ENJOYED READING IT[: I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 500TH POST! THAT WILL BE SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE!

Still taking suggestions to improve the blog in any way!!! Perhaps a non-regular webshow? Maybe[: No giveaway, not enough followers. Please recommend to friends!!!!

Happy 100th post to all, and to all a good night!

ChloƩ Sweater

I saw this sweater worn by Demi Lovato in the recent Teen Vogue issue (July 2010), and I LOVED it! I still do! But I couldn't find anywhere to buy it! I absolutely LOVE the way Demi wore it! It is a Chloe Sweater with argyle patterns and looks awesome with Demi's skirt and shoes. Some might choose to take a more modern approach on the outfit and wear jeans, converses and add those types of twists to it. However, I love the way Demi wore it..

I finally found it online and purchaseable! I'm considering buying itt..well i WAS. But then I saw the price. $995. It's totally in my price range! Anyways, I suppose I'm going to use teen vogue's version for Demi's look instead, since the price of the other one is just too cheap(: But I hope if I actually DO decide to try out this outfit for myself, it looks somewhere near as good as Demi looks in it...but it probably won't.

Tuesday, July 20

busyyweekk..

This week is actually pretty filled with plans! I have ballet this week and next week for three days, and I'm spending my free days probably resting...Hopefully I can find some more plans for the empty days? Anyways, I'm almost done with "Lock and Key" by Sarah Dessen, which means a book review! The nail polish i ordered: Flit-A-Bit by OPI, is here, and hopefully I'll actually have a swatch ready!!! The Funky Dunkey swatch went a bit amiss, so I will have five swatches coming your way soon(:
The ants are loose again. More spray, hopefully they'll die for good now!
Any plans this weekend were sort of ruined...need to hang out with peoplee, I haven't in FOREVER!!
My life is actually really boring, even with the plans. Who knew summer would be quite so boring? I'd rather be with friends most of the time then bored as heck the rest of the time over going to school. Who wouldn't? Ughh...

OPI Nail Polish: Summer Flutter Collection

The Summer 2010 Collection that is being released from OPI is their Summer Flutter Collection. I love all of the colors. I'm only getting one, but if I could, I'd get them all.

I personally don't think this picture does the collection justice. They look like summer colors, though, right? They also look spring-ish as well. I think the Orange polish is what makes it look a little springtime-y.

I really hope this is how they apply. It's so nice to have an orange. The pinks look too similar, however. The colors are Flower To Flower, Flit-A-Bit, Wing It, and Catch Me In Your Net

Flower To Flower: It's bright just like shown in this picture. It's a bubblegum pink and has a shimmer in it.

Flit-A-Bit: This is the one I'm buying. I'm looking forward to it[: It's apparrently not as bright as I'd hoped, but I don't mind. It's going to be just a flat orange. I really hope OPI comes out with a softer orange, almost like a pastel. I'll have a swatch soon.

Wing It: It's darker and when applied looks almost reddish. It has a sparkly feel to it as well. It's not like the picture, there's a shimmer to it.

Catch Me In Your Net: This color is very unique and pretty. It's actually very shimmery as well. It's just a soft blue, but not too soft. The sparkly-ness gives it almost a green tone to it. It'd be my second choice to posess. I love blues, can you tell? =D

Well, I hope they apply well. Then again, I can't really tell a poorly applying polish from an excellently applying polish. Hmmm...

Nail Polish Swatches

Some nail polishes I ordered came in today!! I received two colors that I'd been waiting for and one that my mom wanted. I got "Funky Dunkey" and "Absolutely Alice" I will be making my first swatches as soon as I can[:

Nail Polish: OPI

I really want to try the brand OPI for nail polish. I bought some off of ebay, but of course I have yet to actually win my bidding. Anyways, OPI has polished such as "Off With her Red" and "Mad As A Hatter" from the Alice and Wonderland collection. And from the Shrek Forever After Collection, colors such as "Ogre-the-Top Blue" and "Fiercely Fiona" are released. These both were released a long time ago, but as my discovery of these is new I thought it'd be cool to post it.

The Shrek Collection:

And this is the Alice and Wonderland Collection, which has now been sold out and any future purchases of these items would be exclusive. I hope to purchase "Absolutely Alice" from ebay and hopefully I'll come out with my first swatch!

So I plan to purchase "Absolutely Alice," the entire Shrek Forever After Collection, and a new color called "Flit a Bit" from OPI's Summer Flutter Collection (available now) and the color is a bright orange creme. I hope that the textures and qualities of OPI live up to their expectations! When (and if) the polished arrive, I'll do a full Swatch&Review of each one and it will be under the label: random interests. And comment and tell me what you think of them!

If I'm happy with the quality of OPI then I plan to purchase more of their brands such as "Hot&Spicy" from the Hong Kong Collection and some more colors from the upcoming Swiss Collection. I hope they have a Swiss Cheese color;)

Duct Tape

Watching the back-to-back Duct Tape episode of Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel. I learned a new fact: Duct tape actually used to be called "Duck Tape" (which is what many people originally thought it was due to the fact they sound so similar) due to the fact it is so water resistant, like a duck[:

here are some pictures of the episodes from Myth Busters

This is a regular car wrapped in duct tape in an attempt to bust the myth that states: enough duct tape can lift a car. This myth was declared CONFIRMED because using a crane, duct tape was enough to lift a car!

This is Jamie and Adam (two of the mythbusters) in a boat made almost entirely of duct tape! Of course without the right support the boat would collapse, but the sailboat floated and sailed just like any other sailboat and the price wasn't as expensive according to the mythbusters! This myth was declared CONFIRMED because it was able to float on water and built out of duct tape.

Nail Polish Tips

I realize that I've been getting lots of air bubbles after painting my nails, which makes them look cheap and poorly done, I've figured out what makes them look like this, and how to avoid this. A few of my nails look professionally done, but most look spotty and ugly. I tried the tips in bold because those were the tips that I wasn't doing the first time and that solved my problems, therefore making the air bubbles POP the second time I painted my nails. Here are some tips in case you have these problems too:
  • Paint on thinner layers (multiple thin layers rather than less thick layers)- before i painted very thick layers, and thinner layers fixed it! [:
  • Don't shake bottle before applying, roll in hands- I shook the bottle due to lack of paint.
  • If applying base coat, wait for it to dry COMPLETELY- I do not use a base coat
  • Allow coats to dry completely before painting next coat- I waited very little time because N.Y.C. dries quickly but doesn't harden quickly, which makes a difference
  • Use thick top coat- I used a thick top coat both trials

Also, I have one complaint about the N.Y.C. brand. After removing the polish with Nail Polish Remover (I used CVS brand "regular polish remover") it turned my nails off-color and you could tell there was a dark color polish on my nails previously. Not to mention that there was nail polish residue stuck in between the nail edge and the skin (not that I tried so hard to remove it). So it looks good and stays on nails, but removing the N.Y.C. polish shows it at its worst. I would recommend removing the polish ahead of time in case you need to remove it for an occasion of some sort, otherwise it will look messy and dirty.

polish and plans

painted my nails. lovee the brand N.Y.C. last time i painted my nails orange, they lasted like three weeks!! insanee righht!? haha well this kind is (uhh OBVIOUSLY) called "Skin Tight Denim Creme) its a dark blue shade and sometimes evn looks like black:not my intentionn haha they look awful, but the paint on the skin usually is clean after a take a showerr or wash my hands a few timess..soo yeah[: i highly recommend this brand. and it may sound odd but i also pick nail polish colors (sometimes) based on their names but this kind is really coolll and bluee and prettyy[:

plans tomorroww=D meeting kulsoom and mattie and mattie's friend (who im not sure is going to come or nott..) but im getting out of the housee, hooray!!(: not waking up at noon likee alwayss...yayy[:
